#AceHistoryNews – Nov.20: The childhood home of former President Bill Clinton in Hope is being considered for placement on the Arkansas Register of Historic Places.
The Hope Star reported Thursday that the home’s nomination will be considered by the State Review Board of the Arkansas Historic Preservation Program at their Dec. 1 meeting.
According to the program’s spokesman, Mark Christ, the home where Clinton lived before moving to Hot Springs, is owned by the Clinton Birthplace Foundation. It was nominated for the state register by Paul Henley in March 2014.
Christ says the former president’s home is ineligible for nomination to the National Register of Historic Places because of alterations which have been made to the structure.
Clinton’s birthplace is listed on the national register.
