Prior to September 7th, 1941, most of the trade deals between the US and Nazi Germany, were brokered by the Ambassador to Germany, Joseph Kennedy. A slight matter never cleared up, and kept in J. Edgar Hoover’s files, aside from JFK dating a Nazi spy, is a matter of a ship coming to port, I believe NYC, and two shady chartacters were disembarking when challenged for their documents. They scurried back up the walkway and back onto the vessel. The police or federal agents, I do not recall just whom, placed personnel around the ship. The next day, Joseph Kennedy, was chauffered to the pier and shuffled the two from Germany into his car, under diplomatic amunity. It doesn’t surprise me. The Kennedys also were fond of politics/events of Southern Ireland because the family is Catholic, and there are some issues that I do not have a grasp of, involving the Black & Tan of Britain in Ireland; The Irish Republican Army backed the Axis Kaiser Wilhelm during World War-1. Concerning the Russians, I recollect that it was Malatov, Russia’s ambassador, who was trying to keep Russia in best possible position, especially when Neville Chamberland, waived that famous piece of toilet paper (Arse Wipe), declaring “Peace”, with Adolf Hitler. In my opinion, when I read Sir Winston Churchill’s Memoirs of the Second World War, it gave a master class.., providing one understands that Mr. Churcill, wrote, precisely, as he spoke. A dynamic read!
